The Grassroots Education Project empowers communities to serve their neighborhood schools, supporting students and teachers to improving outcomes. Throughout the fall, we will be going door-to-door to build teams of volunteers that will work with students and teachers throughout the year. In Columbia Heights, we knocked on nearly every door within the Tubman Elementary school boundary, identified 1,800 supporters involved 750 of them as volunteers at the school, and delivered over 16,000 vital volunteer hours. Read what former Tubman Principal Harry Hughes has to say about us. We hope to work with you to transform Walker-Jones into a shining example of what can happen when communities are connected to their schools and given the opportunity to contribute in meaningful ways.
No prior canvassing experience is necessary, as all volunteers will be trained.
